Trellis or lattice fence panels aretypically a lattice fence panel constructed from tanalised timber. The panels are usually constructed in standard widths and standardheights. Most panels are six foot wide but come in heights of 1ftthrough to 6ft. The standard widths allow trellis panels to be fittedbetween existing timber or concrete fence posts or new posts nomatter which supplier you buy them from. Timber lathes are interwovenin to square trellis or diamond lattice layout to form a panel thatoffers privacy without completely obscuring your view.
Trellis panels typically come in anumber of different formats depending on the type of decorativefinish you want. Panels can be bought in flat top format giving asquare or rectangular shape, alternatively for a greater degree ofdecoration you can get panels with a domed top or bow top appearance.Panels with domed or bow topped options should always be measuredfrom the highest point. So dome top panels are measure to the top ofthe dome and bow top panels are measured at the panels sides forheight.
How Can You Use Trellis Fence Panels?
Trellis fence panels can be used in anumber of ways to improve your garden decoration. You can mounttrellis panels above existing fencing to improve the look of theexisting fencing and to add an additional height dimension to yourperimeter fences. You can mount trellis panels on the fascia ofexisting fencing to break up the design of the existing fencing andto provide a climbing surface for plants and vegetation, likewisetrellis panels can be mounted to brick wall fascias to provideclimbing surfaces. Alternatively trellis panels can be mounted onposts to create privacy screens and section off areas of your land bycreating interior perimeters.
If you are looking to extend the heightof your existing fencing then the smaller panels are usually best. Apanel 6ft wide by 1 or 2 ft high can be used best to give a littleextra height. Whether you opt for a flat top, bow top or dome topwill be completely down to your design preference.
If you want to provide climbingsurfaces for plants to existing fences or brickwork, any suitablesized flat top panel can be used to great effect. A 6ft wide by 1fthigh panel can be hung sideways to create a narrow vertical climbingstrip for creepers, alternatively larger 6ft by 6ft panels can coverlarge areas of brickwork if desired. In this application dome and bowtop panels are not as useful as the standard straight top panel.
Trellis fencing panels can be great forproducing decorative privacy screens, they let enough light throughto prevent your garden from becoming gloomy but break up views justenough to add a dimension of privacy and shelter to your garden. Ifyou garden is on flat ground, using alternating dome and bow toppanels can create a wave pattern finish to the privacy fencing thatadds an extra dimension of style to your garden. If your garden is sloped, the standard sizeof panels means you will have to create a stepped approach usingrectangular flat topped panels as dome or bow top can lookdisjointed.
Whichever way you intend to use trellislattice fencing, trellis fence panels can definitely change theatmosphere and ambiance of your garden whilst adding security andprivacy if you so desire or break up hard edges into softer morevisually appealing designs if you so desire.

I have been thinking about a panel for the top of the railing on the sidedeck. The deck runs along the driveway and is visible from the street.
